Some reviews mention that the food can be perceived as greasy, which is a common remark for traditional fish and chips. A few patrons have found the service to slow at peak times, especially during dinner rushes. It’s worth noting that the location can become quite noisy when busy, which may not appeal to everyone. Limited indoor seating can also pose a problem during peak hours, especially on weekends when the restaurant fills to capacity.
Dropped in for some classic fish & chips and wow – what a feast! The large portion is absolutely huge (seriously, come hungry). Fresh fish, light and crispy batter, and golden tasty chips. It’s exactly the kind of place you go when you just want proper, no-nonsense comfort food that instantly hits the spot. Quick, friendly service, good vibes, and great value. If you’re in Liverpool and craving fish & chips – this is the place. I’ll definitely be back! And honestly? I’m surprised at the low rating and comments saying it’s “too greasy” 🤣 I mean… it’s FISH & CHIPS!
Called in with friends after a night out in September 2025, first time visitor. Place was cosy and clean, with friendly staff behind the counter. Menu was straightforward and well-priced for Liverpool city-centre. I opted for the standard fish and chips, and both the quality of the food and the portion size were really good – the fish in particular was delicious. Would recommend and I would definitely visit again.
This placed served the most unforgettable fish and chips I've ever had. The cod was perfectly golden, with a crispy batter that crackled with every bite, yet the inside remained tender and flaky. The chips were perfection. If you’re ever nearby, skip the chains—this is the real deal.
⸻ The fish I had at FishingChip Shop was truly impressive in terms of both freshness and preparation. The crispness of the exterior and the tenderness of the inside were perfectly balanced. The quality of the ingredients and the attention to cleanliness were clearly noticeable. Service was prompt, and the staff were courteous and professional. I would confidently recommend this place to anyone looking for a high-quality seafood experience.
Had fish and chips in Liverpool today—crispy, fresh, and full of flavour. The portion was generous and everything was cooked just right. A proper classic, done really well!
It is the first time I have lunch at this restaurant. Located in the middle of famous Bold Street, you can come from Liverpool Central Station without any difficulty. We ordered fried fish and clips, fish bites, onion rings and pale ale. The fried fish batter is thin and crispy. The fish is fresh and soft. The food portion is quite large at a very reasonable price. You will feel very full after finishing the large fish and clips. At the same time, the taste of pale ale is very refreshing too. Together with the nice service and friendly dining environment, I highly recommend this restaurant to all fish and clips lovers
I came here September 2019. This is located halfway up Bold Street in the middle of a busy food area. I ordered the salt and pepper chips and I have to say its the best I have had. the service is pretty good too.
